Sharing Favorites with Windows Live Toolbar

with 4 comments

Yesterday I posted a blog entry New Windows Live Toolbar might just make you reconsider what you think of Toolbars where I talked about some of the new features in the upcoming Windows Live toolbar. As I was reminded of in the comments though I overlooked an important new feature – the favorites share button.

This new share button allows you to “tag” a website that you like and share it with your friends. Let me show you what that looks like.

I’m browsing Artifacts From the Future Fridge Display Forecasts Apocalypse, Mold on Wired (which I blogged about earlier). Its an interesting article so I hit the “Share” button in Windows Live Toolbar to share it:

I fill in an optional description and hit the share button which sends a link into my “Shared Favorites” folder in Skydrive:

Windows Live adds a message to my Profile as well which means that everyone in my network will know about it too:

and they are invited to add a comment to it if they wish.

Pretty cool huh! What will you be sharing?

  1. Question. So this will be different with Live Favourites that we used to use for synchronizing IE’s favourites across different computers ?

  2. It would be neater if Shared Favorites showed the website’s favicon, rather than the typical globe icon.

Like maybe they could do what they’ve done before, and put the generic file-type icon (in this case – a globe) and place it in the bottom right corner of the file icon, while putting a thumbnail (in this case – a favicon) in the center of the file icon. It’d make it much more faster to recognize sites from a glance and make life easier.

  3. Seika,
This is not favorites sync, that is something else.

  4. Hello,Windows Live Toolbar is in fact an excelent tool for browsing. However, it was important that Microsoft could introduce a new feature to permit users to search for his Favorites and all files or info in Skydrive.
